Ballet, Character & Musical Theatre TutorBrigitte Brocherie

ACB Teacher Cert, BBO Reg Teacher, IADMS Member

Brigitte trained as a dancer under the tutelage of Lorraine Peters and many of Southern Ballet's excellent tutors. She graduated into Southern Ballet’s Full-Time Company under the direction of Russell Kerr, touring the South Island, performing in schools and public performances.
Brigitte continued her love of the theatre by performing in musicals including the lead role of Reno Sweeny in "Anything Goes", Helene in "Sweet Charity", "Cabaret", "Orpheus and the Underworld", "Westside Story" and the dramatical play, "The Dresser". Her career also includes television and radio presenting, modelling, producing and choreographing fashion shows and instructing gym fitness classes.
Brigitte tutored in the Junior School at Southern Ballet from 2009 to 2014 and initiated the original Stretch & Conditioning classes. The health and well being of the dancer is paramount to Brigitte who has membership with International Association for Dance Medicine and Science and has attended courses with Lisa Howell and The Australian Ballet School.
Since 2015, Brigitte has been a part of The Australian Ballet School community as her two children obtained their Graduate Diplomas before working professionally as ballet dancers. Whilst in Melbourne, Brigitte worked as a pointe shoe specialist at Bloch before teaching at the prestigious Melbourne Academy of the Arts School.
Covid brought Brigitte very happily back to New Zealand and we are thrilled to have her back teaching at Southern Ballet. She is an important member of our team and values the need to strive for excellence in dance. Brigitte has a gift to pass her knowledge on to her students.
